Tommy's Golf & Swim Birthday Party!

Share To:

I’ve been wanting to share my son Tommy’s 6th birthday party with you for weeks! I’ve been so busy {update on that later!} but I’m glad I am finally posting about it today. Tommy decided on a Golf themed party this year, and with a June birthday in Arizona, it only made sense to combine it with a swim party. Golf is a fitting theme for Tommy because he loves to golf and our house overlooks a golf course! We borrowed our neighbor’s golf cart, decorated it and parked it out front for the party. Laura from Laura Winslow Photography was on hand to capture the details.

A TomKat party isn’t complete without a full dessert table, so I called on my favorite vendors to come up with delicious treats for the table. Melissa from Decadent Delights created the fondant golf birthday cake, which I topped with a tee, plastic ball and flag. I baked cupcakes in adorable striped baking cups from and topped with party circles from our new Golf Printable Party Collection. The Pottery Barn Kids Parker Stripe shower curtain was a perfect backdrop.

Melissa made a few awesome golf ball cupcakes that I displayed in row at the front of the table. Even the golf ball was edible! So cute!
More cupcakes…

My mom made yummy chocolate cake pops that everyone loved {especially me}. My other favorite treat was the chocolate covered oreos by Sweeties by Kim. So delicious and the plaid and polka dot designs were adorable!

I set up a little popcorn station using Pottery Barn Kids canisters {on sale now!} and polka dot candy cups. The classic candy jars are plastic, so no worries about them breaking with the kids around.

How cute are these paper cones? You can make them to match any theme! Use our printable papers {part of the collection} to make them and I filled with blue cotton candy. The kids loved them!

Bundles of Cookies always does a fabulous job on custom cookies, and these were no exception! I really loved the golf ball and tee designs. So unique!

For party favors, we did cello bags filled with gumballs. I attached favor tags from our printable collection and displayed in my new 3-tiered galvanized tray from HomeGoods.

For the food display in the kitchen, I filled one of my apothecary jars with golf balls and tied with polka dot ribbon. These cute soda bottles were topped with blue and green striped straws.

For outdoor decor, I used my burlap wreath and added plastic golf balls, flags and tees. {inspired by this wreath} I used mini umbrellas and outdoor pillows from Pottery Barn Kids that perfectly matched the theme.

The kids had fun goofing around in the pool and we did a fun game where we divided them into teams and threw a ton of plastic golf balls in the pool. They had to jump in and fetch each ball one by one and put it in their team’s bucket. The adorable green galvanized buckets are from Pottery Barn Kids, as well.

It was such a fun summer party! I still can’t believe my Tommy is already 6!

Printable Golf Party Collection is now available in the shop!

I’ve been waiting for this post too! Great job Kim, as usual! I was wondering how you did the backdrop for the dessert table. Is that part of your wall that you used to hang the backdrop?? Also, I was wondering if your food tables look as amazing as your dessert tables?!

    • Kim says:

Hi Amanda! Thank you for your sweet words! I happen to have a wall in front of my staircase that works perfect to hang the backdrops over. I love that question about the food! I would say that they don’t look quite as good because with food, you get such a range of colors and textures. I still display in fun ways, with cute platters, serving bowls, etc and I also do the fancy food labels for the food so the guests know what they are being served, but nothing is as cute as a totally coordinated dessert table!

  12. Cute, cute & more cute!! We’re partial to golf in this household!

  13. So stylish and fun!! Great colors and everything came together so beautifully! Great job as always KIm!

    Hi Kim –

I loved this party over the summer and have been waiting for an opportunity to implement it…now I have one (YAY!!). I do have a couple of questions and I hope you will help me….What type of grass did you use in the “Team Two” green galvanized bucket? Also, what did you use in the galavanized bucket to get your cake pops to stand up?

Thank you so, so much for everything!

Hi there, I believe your web site might be having internet
browser compatibility issues. When I look at
your site in Safari, it looks fine however when opening in Internet Explorer, it has
some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to give you
a quick heads up! Other than that, excellent website!

  25. Hi there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was
wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my
comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m
having difficulty finding one? Thanks a lot!

However, the most important things on which almost all of our
activities rely are the home appliances. Note down all the problems and report them to your professional handyman
that is about to get the system repaired. In most cases, people would simply turn
their systems off whenever they feel that the temperature is already suitable for what they need.
