Hello, TomKat Studio friends! It’s Jessica from Pen N’ Paper Flowers. I survived the holidays and now I’m back to share with you a simple packaging idea for Valentine’s Day.

Not only can you can use this really cute and simple gift packaging idea for your special Valentine you can also create cute teacher gifts, surprise co-workers and even put them on your children’s pillows for when they return home from school on Valentine’s Day. Or how about thinking beyond Valentine’s day and use this concept to gift something to your bridesmaids, make fun party favors  or create pretty place settings on your table for your next celebration?

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Kraft Ripple 8oz. containers
2.25 Circle Paper Punch
TomKat Twine
Scissors
Red Paper or Card Stock (or any other color you prefer)
Small Hole Punch (not shown)
Optional: Tissue paper, wax paper or a combination of both.

You will also need a treat to tuck inside. I made chocolate covered oreos  and put one in each container but here are some other really easy ideas for filling up your packages:
Hugs & Kisses
Dove Chocolate Hearts
Mini Reese Cups
Chocolate Heart Peanut Butter Cookie
Homemade mini cookies

HOW TO QUICKLY CREATE THE PAPER HEARTS:
1. Use a 2.25″ Circle Craft Punch to create a circle from the paper or card stock you have selected.
2. Fold the circle in half and then use your scissors to create a perfectly symmetrical heart. – using the technique we all remember from elementary school.
3. Unfold.
4. Using a small hole punch, create a small hole on each side of the fold in the middle of each heart. (see photos)

ASSEMBLE THE PACKAGING
String your Twine through the two holes in each heart and tie onto the box after it’s been filled with treats.

A LITTLE MORE FANCY:
You can also punch a couple of holes in your lid and have the string wrap underneath the lid instead of all the way around your box. Either option is darling.

For a different look, slide the heart to one side of the lid instead of putting it smack dab in the middle. Either option is cute.
