How to Style a Creepy Halloween Mantel | The TomKat Studio
It’s time to decorate for Halloween! This is the second fireplace design in a series we styled for DIY Network featuring three different mantel themes… glam, creepy and traditional. Today, we are sharing ideas for creating a creepy
mantel for Halloween! Choose a mantel or shelf in your home and dress it up using red, black, and white. To get started, drape a black sheer cloth over the display area, then start adding creepy décor. Red roses, skulls, and fake bones are all ideas for the perfect amount of creepiness!

Free Printable Halloween Banner - The TomKat StudioAdd this printable “Beware” banner made to look like it was written in blood! The black fabric together with the “bloody” banner set the perfect stage for the rest of the décor. Download it here

DIY Bloody Candles - Halloween Decorating
These creepy candles are so easy to make! You’ll need plain white candles and red taper candles, which you may already have at home or can pickup at your local store! Dripping red candle wax on the edges will make the candles look like they have been drenched in blood. Place them on candlestick holders or on a stack of old books for the perfect effect!

Halloween Skull Art - The TomKat Studio
A large piece of artwork is the perfect anchor for your creepy Halloween display. What says creepy more than a giant skull? Get the instructions

halloween apothecary jars
Apothecary jars can be filled with a number of different items that fit with the red, white and black creepy color combination. Deep red apples are the perfect shade of red along with white miniature skulls.

Glitter Skull - Halloween Decorating

Carry the theme through to other items on the mantel by adding some spooky skulls and vintage books. When this display is set up, it will feel like you’re in a haunted house!

  1. Kim,
I love the red drippings on the candles. I can’t wait to see the 3rd option.

I really like the drooping red roses and the red dripping candles. Looks like those are garlic bulbs in the canisters not skulls. Very clever!
