The warm days of summer are upon us and we have a sweet way to help keep you cool! We have partnered with California Milk Advisory Board to bring new life to one of our favorite summer time treats: the ice cream sandwich! Inspired by the ice cream sandwich trend, this fun and easy dessert display is perfect for any party you might be hosting this summer including 4th of July celebrations! Your guests will love the endless combinations of ice cream sandwiches they can make with a variety of cookies and delicious Real California ice cream flavors! My personal favorite combo is chocolate chip ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies with a sprinkle of crushed Oreos around the edge!
Tip #1: Be sure you download our free printable directions sheet and labels for your cookies and Real California ice cream flavors!
Tip #2: Get creative with your display! We found this divided tin basket at a local vintage market and it ended up being the perfect piece to hold our yummy cookies!
Tip 3: If your Ice Cream Sandwich display is outside, we recommend keeping your Real California ice cream on ice to help prevent melting!
Tip 4: Be sure to have a few fun toppings for your guests to sprinkle on the edge of their ice cream sandwiches! Sprinkles, crushed cookies and nuts are all great options.
Let’s see just how fun and easy these delightful treats are to make…
Simply pick your base cookie, add a scoop of your favorite flavor of Real California ice cream, and use another cookie to squish your ice cream down to complete the sandwich! Sprinkle your favorite topping around the edge for the finishing touch. So easy and so delicious!
What tasty ice cream sandwich combination will you create?

Where did you find the little tool box for displaying the cookies…..I love this idea and I know my family will too!
Could you share where you found the clear containers for the ice cream, what size they are and if they come with lids? Thank you!!!
Also do you have any good recipes for the different cookies you made? Thanks!
Hi Kira!
You can find the containers here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UHWVGY/?tag=thtost0f-20
However, I put the lids on after the shoot and put the ice cream in the freezer and the lids were impossible to get off, so I would not recommend doing that.
They worked great for the display though!

Hi Kim,
Very pretty photoshoot. Just curious, where did you found that adorable tray that your cookies are displayed in?
Hi Rachel!
I found it at a local boutique, but I saw it here, as well: https://paintedfoxhome.com/product/java-me/
Oh, this is such an adorable idea! I’ll definitely be borrowing your idea for my daughter’s upcoming birthday party. Btw, for anyone who’s looking for a galvanized tray like yours, Hobby Lobby sells one almost exactly the same (except it has feet) and it’s pretty cheap when it’s on sale (which is usually every 2-3 weeks)! Have a lovely day!
Good to know, thanks Deb!
I love every little part of this! Thanks for sharing! I think I need to order the divided tray. My sister makes the most beautiful chocolate chip cookies that are perfect for ice cream sandwiches. We could have some fun with this idea. 🙂
