I have many dreams. Big dreams, little dreams. A couple of my dreams came true recently. The dream of opening my own store just happened. With that dream being realized, another little dream I’ve been having came true. The dream of having a black and white striped wall. (Like I said, my dreams come in all sizes!) Here are a few of the images that inspired me to go bold and create a statement wall right in my new shop! It turned out….so. good. I’m obsessed.

Fabulous, right? 

Within my new retail shop, I created a work space for my team and I to work in. I knew the back wall of the office needed a pop of something and it turned out to be the perfect place to do the black and white stripes! See the back wall?

Perfect wall to make a statement, right?

I visited my Lowe’s down the street and browsed the many shades of black in the Valspar color library featuring over 3,000 colors. Valspar Reserve, a new premium paint from Valspar, has super-strength pigments that deliver deeper color and I wanted my paint to be as black as black can be. I chose Valspar Dark Kettle Black and proceeded to place my order. Lucky for me, the paint counter girl was super knowledgeable and recommended that I order a custom black to get the blackest black. (Just another reason I love Lowe’s!)

Of course I listened to her, and then I carefully jotted down what she did, because I know you are going to ask! So, to get a true, fabulous black paint color, get:

Valspar Reserve in Satin (gallon) – for the deepest black, add 12 oz of HydroChroma tint to the deepest base

I have no idea what that really means, but I’m sure your friends at Lowe’s will! (I later learned that HydroChroma Technology in Valspar Reserve is responsible for the super-strength pigments and more vibrant color.)

I had my favorite painter, Jorge (remember when he came and painted a room in my house the moment I called him because I had a shoot that day?!) come by and he whipped out these stripes in no time at all!
