I love bandanna print. There is something very American about the familiar favorite. So naturally, I was very pleased to see a whole feature on bandanna in current issue of Martha Stewart Living! So excited, in fact, it inspired me to use one of my favorite cookie designs for another American favorite, CUPCAKES!
The best part about these is, they are REALLY easy to make. To begin, cover several small round cookies with red royal icing, and let
them dry completely. Then using white royal icing and a small tip such as a #1 or #2 pipe dots around the border of the cookie.
Next, use a black food color marker to draw bandanna-like patterns on the cookie. I like paisleys, flowers and dots, but you can do anything you like. Finally, use the white icing fitted with a #1 tip to accent the black pattern. When these have dried, place them on top on a frosted cupcake. I added denim wrappers that I made from scrapbook paper as a finishing touch. You can make them in other shapes also, such as squares or flowers.
These cupcakes would be perfect for a 4th of July celebration or Western themed party! Let us know if you give them a try!
Love! Love Callye, love the cupcakes (and love the denim wrappers). I posted a link on EdibleCrafts.CraftGossip.com 🙂
