We had such an amazing experience at the Operation Shower Sunshine Safari event in San Diego last week! It couldn’t have been a more gorgeous venue on the 14th green of the Torrey Pines Golf Course. The event hosted by Operation Shower, Birdies for the Brave and the Farmers Insurance Open honored 40 moms-to-be whose spouses are deployed members of the military. We were thrilled to be asked to design a tablescape for the event, along with nine other party designers. We were able to handpick products from Pottery Barn Kids to use in our design as well as use an adorable Sunshine Safari printable set by Paper and Cake. Here is how our table turned out!
From Pottery Barn Kids, we used an adorable cupcake stand, these cute giraffe and elephant melamine plates and Molly made the runners using mini dot sheeting in bright pink.
To add a little more “safari” to the design, we used craft paper to cover a hat box to place the centerpiece on and as a background on our napkin rings. We also made chair garlands using brown coffee filters, tied with ribbons.
We set a tube of shimmer gumballs tied with a tag at each place setting to add color and sweetness! We ordered carnations from a local florist to complete the design and add color.
We wanted to give a little gift to the moms at our table, so our fabulous vendor, Cupcake made custom necklaces hand stamped with a baby carriage on them for these deserving ladies!
The dessert table styled by Marie from Sweets Indeed was so gorgeous! I was so impressed with her and loved meeting her and her photographer husband, Shannon.
The cake by Hey There Cupcake was a perfect centerpiece for the dessert table! Breathtaking!
So many sweet treats from so many sweet vendors!
I tried to take photos of each tablescape, so here is what I captured! There are professional photos floating around Facebook, but I haven’t had a chance to download and check them all out yet!

We had a few wonderful mommies at our table including Chevette above, who was overwhelmed by all of the incredible gifts from sponsors. What a doll she was!
More happy mommies and the amazing woman behind Operation Shower, Leann Morrissey.
We were thrilled to hang out with Sarah from Pottery Barn Kids again! She has her own little one on the way!
A big thank you to Amy Belle Isle for inviting us to be part of this beautiful event!
We will never forget it and look forward to helping again soon!

Love it Kim! Thanks for sharing all the photos with us and taking us through your experience. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful! What a wonderful event!! I’m sure that all those moms-to-be were so very grateful. Your tablescape is perfect…love that coffee filter garland…the perfect natural touch to all those beautiful colors!
What an amazing event, my favorite thing has to be the chair garlands! Great job! (By the way to say that I’m envious of you being at Torrey Pines would be a HUGE understatement!)
Lovely blog post on a lovely event! You don’t need the pro pics – you did a great job yourself. 😉
LOVE IT!!
Wanted to see if you could show how you made the coffee filter chair garland . . . I love that . . Thank You again for all of your amazing posts and ideas. You brighten my day whenever I click on your site . . . which is every single day and sometimes 2 -3 times.
Thanks again!
My friend and I were just talking about the push cakes and he saw them for the first time in LA. I fell in love with yhe idea and have been trying to find the push pop containers to make them. Can you please advise?
Correcting my typos like first it’s Reshaunda and instead of yhe it’s *the*
Hi there,
It was a great event and it was a huge honor to have my cupcakes featured along with the other wonderful people, what a shame I didn’t stick around to meet everyone, it sounded like a great group!
