Hello! It’s Toni here to share a baby shower that I had the utmost honor of throwing for a dear friend a few weeks ago. Heidi and her sweet husband Ed, have been waiting for this pregnancy for a long, long time – 5 years to be exact. Heidi and I bonded over our fertility struggles several years ago and we never gave up hope that this day would someday come! Let’s just say that this baby shower has been in the planning stages for years.
When the time had finally come, I went to two of my great friends, Daniece and Kristen. They both love Heidi as much as I do, and I knew they would help me throw an amazing shower! Daniece graciously offered her home, and as luck would have it, we had gorgeous weather so we were able to hold the shower in Daniece’s backyard…which is beautiful!
As I thought about what a perfect theme would be for the shower, I kept going back to the idea of this little baby boy being the Little Man of this new family, and Kim had just the collection. She had designed it months prior for a friend and it was perfect for this occasion. Bright blue, orange and chocolate brown plus mustaches and bow ties. Perfect!
We decided to serve brunch and that all of the food should be “mini”….because he will be Ed’s “Mini-Me”. So, we did everything bite sized or served in individual portions. Donut trees, yogurt parfaits, Kristen’s delicious Shrimp Salad were among some of the items served.
Another menu item was cinnamon rolls! Daniece baked these yummies in these cute candy cups! How fun! Delicious too!
We served orange juice, milk, water and root beer! I loved the root beer because the bottles matched the color scheme. Plus, I thought they were very “man” like. I didn’t think the beverage would be as popular as it was, but not a single bottle was left. I even had two myself!
I also found this gorgeous chevron fabric at an Etsy shop called Fabric Shoppe. It was perfect! My friend Lori whipped up a few table runners for me.
At the table was a little treat for each guest….a bow tie cookie from JP Creatibles! Jen did an incredible job with these cookies! I couldn’t stop looking at them. They were perfect.
We set up a little photo booth area and my friend Alyssa made sure Heidi had her picture taken with each guest. We then had a small photo album and each guest was given a notecard to leave a note to Heidi and the baby. I’ll then slide the photos into the album and Heidi will have a lovely little keepsake to remember the day!
We had chalkboards to write messages on, and of course, mustaches on a stick!! It was so much fun!
The only words I can use to describe the day was JOY. Pure joy. Seeing Heidi with her baby bump just makes me incredibly happy. It really was a beautiful day. UPDATE: I am happy to report that little man, Eddie was born just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Thank you to the very talented Jessica Downey of Jessica Downey Photography for photographing the shower! You are so appreciated!

I absolutely love this collection and with a LITTLE bit of tweaking on the wording, it would be a fun, fun, fun little boy birthday as well. I am having my third child, and first boy, in one week so the shower party is too late for me, but I am definitely bookmarking this for a first birthday idea! Love!
Toni, this is so cute. Love the cinnamon bun idea! x
so cute, and I love the little man theme, adorable.
I love everything about this shower, precious! 🙂
That is one super cute party. I love the color combo , and the idea of photo shoot with props is awesome, great memories for sure. And yes, I absolutely adore those bow tie cookies 🙂
Every bit of this is absolutely DARLING!!!!
I MUST befriend someone who is pregnant with a baby boy very soon. This. Is. FABULOUS. I think that bow-ties should become the new mustaches.
Toni, you did a FABULOUS job on this shower. How cute is that photo booth!?!?! I would love it if you would share the recipe for the mini cinnamon rolls in the candy cups. Also, has the TomKat Studio ever posted a tutorial on how to do one of the amazing backdrops that you always do behind your tables? Would love to learn from the best 🙂 Thanks.
I would love the recipe as well. Everything looked perfect.
LOVE the bow tie cookies!!~
That dessert table is AMAZING! And I just love the collection’s colors. Great job!
I am so bowtie obsessed that it’s not even funny. These cookies totally made my day!! Guess i’ll have to become a professional baker in time for my little boy’s first birthday. 🙂
Awh, I’m so happy for your friend Heidi!! I just love this theme, and all of the colors. Adorable!
Congrats! Sure looks like it was one fun party! I love those tie cookies… look very tasty too 🙂
