I promised I would share more photos and details from this gorgeous shoot we did for HGTV, but I have to apologize it’s a little late! This shoot was styled for a New Year’s Eve Party but I didn’t get to post it in time! I still hope some the ideas will inspire you for other party themes. You could also keep it in mind for next year! I have to say that this may be one of my favorite shoots we’ve ever done. The pink and gold combination is one of my faves and the ruffles, giant balloons and feminine details are so my style. When Rennai from ten22 studio sent over the final photos, I’m pretty sure my heart skipped a beat. Enjoy….
The gorgeous tiered cake was made by Bonnie of Inspired Occasions. The pink and white ruffles with gold edges turned out perfect! We added thin gold ribbon around each layer to finish it off. Bonnie also made the pink cake pops with gold edible glitter and we added the little bows using the same gold ribbon. She made stacked sugar cookies frosted with pink icing and topped with pink flowers with gold edges to match the cake ruffles. Stunning!
The courtyard at the Inspirador was the perfect space for our shoot. We set up the dessert table in front of the stunning fireplace and it was a great focal point. We used our 36″ round balloons to frame the table. We created hanging dot garland using glitter paper and our 2.25″ circle paper punch. Molly made tissue paper + mylar tassel garlands for the front of the table, as well as smaller versions for the chairs. (tutorial post coming soon!)
I designed a simple new printable collection that is available for download on HGTV. I used pink and white, as gold is hard to get right when printing. I embellished the edges of the cupcake toppers and dessert labels with our favorite champagne gold glitter. I made easy cupcakes with my favorite mix and frosting, then topped with edible gold sprinkles. I placed them in our pink cupcake wrappers for a finished look. Our friend, Rosie from Crazy about Macarons shipped in her yummy vanilla macarons for the shoot.
You all know my friend, Becki right? Isn’t she gorgeous? Becki from Whippy Cake was in charge of wardrobe, hair and makeup styling for the shoot. She also agreed to model for it and chose the other model, Sierra who has done many shoots for Becki to showcase her collections. They were perfect! I had Becki whip up a handmade New Year’s Eve tiara at the last minute (she’s very crafty, too) and it turned out so cute, we created a tutorial for it that you can find here on HGTV.
Ariana, from our TomKat team had the fabulous idea of adding the gorgeous champagne ribbon bows to the balloons. Love.
We dressed up our french square bottles with gold ribbon and swizzle sticks I made by simply adding fringed gold tissue paper to our mini pink dot straws. We filled with a mix of sparkling grapefruit juice and vodka.
We used the champagne glasses that I received for my wedding (11 years ago). Aren’t they pretty? They have an etched scroll design on them. Little white bows and edible gold sprinkles added a festive touch to the glasses. For these, we mixed Izze Sparkling Peach juice with champagne. Delicious!
We thought it would fun to add a few food items and recipes to the shoot, so I enlisted Joanna from Baked by Joanna to come up with a few simple hors d’oeuvres that would fit well with the theme. We loved how it turned out.
Joanna shared the recipe for Feta, Mint and Watermelon Bites on HGTV here. They were really delicious and so fresh. I’m not a big seafood eater, so I passed on the additional appetizers, but they sure looked amazing!
We made favor bags from gorgeous white and gold dot wrapping paper that I had in my closet. We used one of the favor bags we sell in the shop as a template, then cut and used double-sided tape to secure. We wrapped with gold twine and added a printable thank you tag. Fill with cookies, candy or other small treats for your guests to take home.
For an additional party favor idea, we filled clear cellophane tubes with small shimmer gumballs (both coming to the shop soon!) and added printable “happy new year” flags using double-sided tape.
Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the photos and can use some of these ideas for your next party!
xoxo
Kim

I have been WAITING for this update ever since I saw the photos. I adore this color combination and can easily see the ideas adapted to a bridal shower or even a Pinkalicious inspired girl’s birthday party. Everything of course is just lovely Kim, but darn, I thought those adorable bags would be in the Shop soon! But what a great idea to make your own with your favorite paper. I will keep that in mind! I especially LOVE the big balloons…so much impact for just two items is fabulous! I just love all the gold accents which make things festive and sparkly but not too over the top. SUBLIME! I would love to have a New Year’s Eve party next year and would love to do this theme 🙂
I’m so glad you love it, Tina! It is one of my favorite FOR SURE and when I saw the photos, it was a really proud moment for me! Rennai did such a beautiful job capturing the details! Thank you for all of your feedback! xoxo

What a gorgeous party Kim! I’m all jealous. I whipped up a pink and gold party as well for last New Year’s Eve. No guests just my husband and our 3 kiddos it looked so festive – great color combo. You styled such beautiful details and your models are simply breathtaking. Have a wonderful day and thank you so much, you are such a great inspiration. A big fan from Germany – maks 🙂
P.S. 90% of the decorations I used were handmade from christmas gift wrap leftovers – I dressed everything in gold – and I also used beautiful free printables from talented fellow bloggers :-).

Hey There Kim,
I have a fast question. I’m working on a book and I was wondering if I could use the photo MG_3194.jpeg ? The mason jars with fringe straws? We will give you credit in the book. I just love this site and it would be an honor to mention you in my Scrapbook Idea book.
Please let me know
