Good morning, friends! I hope you had a nice weekend! I thought I would share a little peek of the cupcakes I made for our son, Tommy’s 8th birthday this weekend! The party theme was football, since it is his favorite sport right now! We always have a big pool party for his birthday since it is so hot here in Phoenix by June. Not sure if you read about it on Facebook, but about an hour into his party, the unthinkable happened. He was playing on our basketball court with his friends and slipped. He fell and hit his head on the travertine wall of a planter. It was bleeding heavily and he had a very, very deep cut in his forehead. So scary!! Our firefighter friend sent us to the emergency room. He was so, so sad as we sat in the waiting room for hours. Every few minutes, I would see a tear drip down his face and you could just tell that he was thinking about all of the fun he was missing out on. The hours dragged on and about four hours later, our sweet boy got stitches in his forehead. The hospital staff and doctors were all so fantastic. I told Tommy that we would have a birthday party re-do and we headed home.
When we walked in the front door around 10:00pm, nearly ALL of our friends were still there waiting and they serenaded Tommy with “Happy Birthday” with his ice cream cake! It was priceless to see the smile on his little face. He was so happy that everyone stayed to celebrate with him! We have the most amazing friends and family ever! I am so thankful for what they did for Tommy!

Poor Tommy (and you)! I guess this is all part of a party but I’m surprised you’re having a redo- parties can be very expensive- though you’re such a great mom too!
