It’s been a year since this sweet Everett boy was born and I shared his birth announcements here on the TomKat blog, so naturally I had to come back and share his first birthday party. I am so fortunate to get a first hand look at Kim’s party styling expertise while shooting for the TomKat Studio–because honestly, planning and hosting my own parties is a bit of a weak spot for me! For Everett’s first, we wanted something laid back and simple, no theme, just a cool gathering of close friends and family for a cool kid. I opted for party supplies with the same feel and tones as his nursery, and after waiting as long as possible, popped into the TomKat Shop in Chandler the night before to pick everything up. I’m not kidding, if you are as last minute as I am, the TomKat Shop is the place to be. The girls there helped me pick supplies and let me bounce my ideas off of them, and I came out with a great collection that worked perfectly together!
With all the littles running around outside, we had to set up against our not so cute brick wall, but a little chalk art made it just the right backdrop after all. We finished off the table by stringing up some square prints of Everett’s first year from Artifact Uprising, and added a few decor pieces from his nursery too.
Because we have three naps to plan around, we invited our loved ones over for a morning party and kept the menu simple with granola blueberry greek yogurt parfaits, water, fresh juice, coffee for the adults and cupcakes for dessert.
I found the perfect classic wooden cake topper at the TomKat Studio Shop to go on his naked smash cake, which I made from scratch. Just kidding, it was a box mix, but I did frost it and the cupcakes myself using some tips Baked by Joanna shared with us a few weeks ago.
Everett wasn’t too sure about the cake, or it getting all over his clothes, but his sister Aspen jumped at the chance to show him how it all worked.
Happy First Birthday Everett, and many thanks for all the help from The TomKat Studio!

That is such a cute cake stand! Do you mind sharing where you got it? Looking for something similar for our daughter’s 1st birthday. 🙂
Hey Lisa, I got it in store at The TomKat Shop!
Thanks Rennai! It must be discontinued, but there are other cute ones. Will keep looking!
