Happy Monday! I am back with another update on the new house! First things first, our exterior paint colors were approved by the HOA! Hooray! So, it feels a little funny to call this blog series “The Pink House” when painting is underway and it will soon be white. So, I think I’m just going to go with “Our House Remodel”, cool? Or I’ll call it “Equestrian” since that is the street name. Okay good. Moving along… I have SO much to share including some crazy demo photos and details about all of the big changes we have decided to make to this house! But, first… I am going to talk about one of the most important decisions when remodeling a house… flooring!

frenchwood larch | birch forest gray
We used gorgeous wood-look tile from Floor & Decor in our last house remodel, and we were thrilled with the results. We loved the wide variety of materials offered (at great prices!) at Floor & Decor and the customer service experience was outstanding! We are excited to work with Floor & Decor on choosing the main flooring for this house. One of the hardest things about remodeling an entire home is making decisions. It may come easy for some people, but it takes me a really long time to decide on final materials, especially on the big things. Sometimes I think I should just repeat what we did in the last house because I did love how everything turned out, but what fun is that? I want to change things up, try new things and really figure out what my favorites are. I love so many different styles so it’s hard to know what my “true” style is. During this process, I am planning on sharing details about many of the choices I am making, so maybe just maybe… if you are working on a remodel of your own home, my ideas and selections might help! Above are six of the many, many options that Floor & Decor offers that I have my eye on. You may notice that we are definitely going with a wood “look” but we aren’t sure if we will go with hardwood or wood plank tile for this house. I am not sure if I want to go light, medium or dark. (I know, it’s quite a wide range!) I’ve narrowed down to my favorite four, and I’ve created four inspiration boards, each featuring a possible choice for our main flooring. Now even though these style boards are a particular style (modern glam, traditional, farmhouse, boho chic), I believe that all of these options can really go with any style because they are all neutral wood options. By sharing actual images of similar flooring in use, I feel like it may generate some ideas and a good starting point for making a choice!
Style #1: Modern Glam
These images are of my last house that we recently sold! This where we used Castille Wenque Wood Plank Tile. I called the look of my formal living and dining rooms “modern glam” because I went with a more formal, fancy style in this space. The crystal chandeliers really made this space beautiful and I mixed some modern and traditional furniture in these areas. I love the striped chairs at the ends of my dining table.

furry ottomans | gray tufted sofas
Style #2: Traditional
I always love high contrast, so I am considering doing really dark wood floors in the new house, like this Graphite Birch Hand Scraped Hardwood. I’m sure we will be doing white board and batten again in this house (I’m obsessed!), so the contrast of the white with dark floors makes me super happy.

raffia baskets | oil rubbed bronze sconce | paris clock | french kitchen bakers rack
Style #3: Farmhouse
Chip and Jo have made farmhouse style famous and I’m quite a fan. While I don’t think my personal style is all farmhouse, I definitely love to incorporate farmhouse elements in the more casual areas of my home. This medium-tone wood plank tile, Shelburne Saddle looks gorgeous in white kitchens with rustic wood and metal accessories.

kitchen 2 | pillow | boxwood plant | tiered tray | wire basket
Style #4: Modern Boho Chic
I originally spotted this gorgeous wood flooring, Montepellier Oak Engineered Hardwood at a friend’s house and I fell in love. It’s medium in color and the texture of the wood is super soft. I found a few inspiration images including the hallway and bedroom below. As you may know, I love pale pink so I was excited to see how gorgeous this wood looks with the blush tones, but also looks equally amazing with the black/white/gray color palette.

I’d love to hear in the comments below!
Decisions, decisions! Stay tuned to see which floors I decide on!

Love it all! So fun following along with your renovation. My first vote, Shelburne…second runner up, Graphite.
Thank you, Jill! xoxo
Would love to see some modern glam
Love it!
Soooooo hard to choose from these gorgeous boards, but I’d have to say traditional with modern glam a VERY close second! Whatever you choose, it is going to look so fabulous!! XOXO
Thank you, Tina!! Glad you like them all! xoxo
Kim, All the boards are quite amazing. However, my favorite is the modern glam. It’s the style I tend to gravitate toward in my own home and I love how you styled that board. Good luck with this new home remodel.
Jenn
Thank you, Jenn! Aren’t they fun? I love putting them together, so I’m glad you like them! Modern glam is definitely a fave of mine, as well!
Flooring is so hard when it’s 3,000+ sq feet and a big part of the budget. I’m currently helping my sis inlaw do a remodel – their home is 25 years and has the original kitchen (white wash cabinets kinda pink ) we have narrowed down a few wood tile from floor decor and Tanner tile in chandler . Personally I like your traditional board and also farmhouse- excited to see your choices .
Yes, it’s a HUGE decision! We loved the wood plank tile from Floor & Decor we used in our last house. Everyone loved it! My best friend is going to use it in her house when they remodel later this year!
graphite birch is my fave followed by shelburne saddle. Love these behind the scenes you are giving us! xoxo
Hello darling! Great to see your smiling face here today! They are all gorgeous right? I do love the dark because I love contrast! Stay tuned for final choice!!
I have to vote for modern glam as well. We recently redid our Peoria home with Birch Forest Noce Wood tile from Floor and Decor (https://www.flooranddecor.com/porcelain-tile/birch-forest-noce-wood-plank-porcelain-tile-100063981.html) and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We have very similar taste as we did white shaker cabinets in our redone kitchen and white quartz counters with a gray subway tile backsplash (herringbone pattern over the gas range). Funny thing, your last house that you just posted and moved from is one of the former Hancock home plans that we almost purchased and flipped ourselves (but out west in Pleasant Valley). Funny to see pictures of it because it’s like you took the vision that was in my head as we walked through that home and actually made it a reality! It turned out really fantastic. So excited to see what you guys will do with this new one!
That flooring is gorgeous! We definitely like the same style! That’s so great you almost bought the same floorplan! That was a fabulous house!!
I love the traditional look myself..so rich and warm! Second choice would be the farmhouse boards., with the warm , cozy nostalgic look…I agree with the rest of your followers tho..they are all wonderful boards!
Thank you so much, Mary!
Love all the style boards Kim!! And I loved the Modern Glam in your previous remodel! But I am biased towards the Graphite birch floor and the traditional style this time because I want to see you do it. 🙂 🙂 We have similar dark wood floors in our house and I am curious to see the way you will contrast the white with it.
Thank you for your input, Nikki! Stay tuned!!
For this home, I’d lean towards traditional…with some modern glam mixed in. Such a fun project Kim! We’ll have to do a coffee break in the new digs once you’re done ?!
Thanks, Tana! Yes, for sure. I would love to see you soon! xoxo
What is the color of your white exterior? Love it and so happy to see white in the neighborhood!
Hi Valori,
I used Dunn Edwards Droplets for the exterior paint!
I am like you I am drawn to different styles! I try to incorporate a few different elements in different spaces n the house… Is that allowed? We just bought a new home (in AZ) and are looking for some land to purchase and build our dream home on. The home we are in has the birch wood grey wood look tile, beautiful greige paint and a stunning white shaker style kitchen. In my formal living and dinning the have a glam style going on: gold, marble, blush, black, white. But the kitchen and family room are more tranditional with a few farmhouse elements in the. Do you have any tips/thoughts on how I can make this work?
I am thinking of using the Castille Wenque Wood Plank for my entire downstairs. We would have 4 steps down to the family room. My contractor said he could make the needed bullnose for the steps. Have you seen this done? Also, what color grout did you use? Thanks for all of your fun ideas!
Castille Wenque is gorgeous! That is great that he make the bullnose. We did use it on a few steps as well, but I don’t think they made a bullnose? I do not remember what the grout was (it’s been a few years!)
